Dr. Attila Kiss, Associate Professor at the BME TTK Institute of Nuclear Techniques (BME NTI)
About Dr. Attila Kiss: He holds a Ph.D. degree in Physical Sciences since 2019 and an MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering since 2006. He graduated from the BME Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with a major in Applied Mechanics and a minor in Fluid Dynamics specializations. He wrote his diploma thesis at the Institute under the supervision of Professor Attila Aszódi and worked as a PhD student from 2006 to 2009. He joined to the Institute in September 2009. In a broader sense, his field of research is the thermal hydraulics of nuclear reactors (especially the fourth generation) using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and experimental (measurement) tools. His narrower field of expertise is the thermal hydraulics of Supercritical-Water-Cooled Reactors (SCWR). Besides teaching, he is involved in international research projects (e.g. EU FP-6, FP-7 and H2020 projects) and collaborations (e.g. IAEA CRPs, GIF benchmarks, etc.). He is always looking for talented English-speaking students to get involved in his research and to work with him in the framework of the Scientific Student Conference (so-called “TDK”), BSc and MSc theses. Currently (since February 16, 2025) he is an Associate Professor at BME NTI. He has more than 20 years of experience in CFD & thermal hydraulics. From January 2019 to December 2022, he was the substitute representative of EURATOM in the SCWR Thermal Hydraulics & Safety Project Management Board (SCWR TH&S PMB) of the Generation Four International Forum (GIF).
